Sonia: My secret to looking fab

By: June Cheong

What's your secret to looking so fabulous?

Eating right and having a diet that includes plenty of fruit and water. That's coupled with a good exercise regimen, lots of spa treatments and ample sleep. Being in a good mood helps.

Has there ever been a time when you weren't fit and fab?

Yes. Before my wedding almost two years ago, I was 5kg heavier. I wanted to look super gorgeous that day, so I went nuts with yoga.

What's your diet like?

Fresh juice in the morning, lots of veggies during the day, nothing fried if possible and fresh fruit in the evening after dinner.

What are your indulgences?

I love chocolate. I will die for it in any shape and form.

Do you count your calories?

No, I've never bothered because I don't wish to become obsessed with calorie counting. I believe in self-restraint and am confident that my diet is balanced and healthy.

Do you take supplements?

I take vitamin C when I feel tired. This helps me to stay alert and look fresh.

What's your sleep routine like?

I can fall asleep very easily - any time, any place. I usually have eight hours of sleep a day unless I'm on set.

How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?

I exercise in the morning before I head off for work. This keeps me energised through the day. Staying in a good mood helps, so in between my appointments, I sneak a couple of quick text chats with my husband and friends.

What do you do to relax?

Chilling out in a steam room and going for spas and massages are instant ways for me to relax. In addition, lazy mornings spent reading the papers or a great book always works.

What're the three most important things in your life?

My husband - he keeps me sane and complete. My family - as they give me unconditional love. Great friends - I am thankful to have friends who have stood by me all my life through thick and thin.

Would you go for plastic surgery?

I prefer the natural way of staying young and fresh-looking. It makes me feel much more alive and working out provides a personal sense of satisfaction - something a doctor or surgeon cannot give me. Do you think you're sexy? If you feel great about yourself, you'll ooze sexiness from within. I am my own worst critic so I never compliment myself. It'll be more appropriate to pose this question to my husband.
