ANOTHER island-wide manhunt is on. This time though, the search is for Singapore's Happiest Person, an effort mooted by Singapore-based consulting firm Global Leadership Academy (GLA).

Mr Philip Merry, founder and CEO of GLA, said in a press release yesterday: "Having trained thousands of people across the globe, one distinct trend I have noticed is that despite material wealth and economic success, Singaporeans consider themselves less happy than many other people."

The two-week campaign, which began on Sunday and runs till Mar 30, is held in conjunction with the New Science of Happiness and Well-being Conference from April 16 to 17 at the Singapore Expo.

Nominees must be Singaporeans aged 18 and above, but those nominating them can be Singaporeans, Singapore PRs or a resident of Singapore.

Nominees will be judged on their disposition, their consistency of happiness, their ability to be happy in difficult times, how well they get along with friends and family, and their ability to bring happiness to others.

Nominations should contain the full contact details of the nominee and the nominating person, as well as a 300 to 1,000-word write-up on why the nominee deserves the title.

Results will be announced on April 4 and the top-three winners will have even more reason to cheer.

They will win 3D2N stays at the Marriott's Phuket Beach Club and the Hua Hin Marriott Resort, and a weekend stay at the Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore respectively.

Nominations should be sent to happiest@simply-happy.com by midnight March 30. More details can be found at www.simply-happy.com.
