Maintain high food hygiene standards

my paper

IT IS appalling to read news reports about dead insects or worms being found in dishes served at food outlets, which could cause food poisoning.

It is the responsibility of foodshop operators to prepare food that is safe for consumption. Where food is concerned, there can be no compromise.

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority, the Ministry of Health and the National Environment Agency should conduct spot checks and ensure that the operators adhere to stringent food-handling requirements.

Singapore's image as a food paradise will be tarnished if food is found to be unsafe for consumption.
