JOHOR topped the list of states with the most Chikungunya cases - more than half - recorded nationwide, the Sin Chew Daily reported.

Health Ministry disease control division director Datuk Dr Hassan Abdul Rahman said the ministry received reports of 1,703 Chikungunya cases this year.

He said Johor recorded the highest with 996 cases, equivalent to 58% of the total number of reports in the country.

He said Malacca came in second with 405 cases, followed by Perak (173), Negri Sembilan (92) and Selangor (26).

Johor also recorded the second highest number of dengue cases after Selangor with the ministry receiving a total of 1,014 dengue reports last week, he said.

Among them, 468 cases were in Selangor, followed by Johor (102), Kelantan (68), Terengganu (36) and Malacca (30).
