DNA TESTS IN A SWAB

WHAT IS DNA?
DNA, short for deoxyribonucleic acid, contains the genetic information all living organisms and some viruses rely on for development and function.

HOW IS THE TEST TAKEN?
Cheek cells, which contain one's DNA, are collected on a buccal cheek swab by swiping the stick repeatedly up and down one's cheek walls for about half a minute. The Susceptibility Test costs $3,228, and the Genetic Discovery Test, $1,788.

WHAT YOU COULD FIND OUT
Susceptibility Test:
A list of diseases one is genetically prone to out of 100, such as breast cancer, osteoporosis, prostate cancer, Crohn's disease. It comes with a guidebook on how to minimise risk.

Genetic Discovery Test: A list of genetic traits indicating your child's "innate talents", such as endurance, EQ, and musical and athletic abilities.
