SEOUL, April 2, 2009 (AFP) - Three South Korean manufacturers said Thursday they are recalling baby powder products after health authorities announced that they contain cancer-causing asbestos.

The Korea Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday that it had found asbestos in baby powder made by eight manufacturers and banned their sale.

Three of the companies apologised and announced they are voluntarily recalling the products, Yonhap news agency reported.

Asbestos can cause lung cancer when inhaled.
