British teens to get condom 'credit cards'

LONDON: Boys as young as 12 in Britain are to get condom "credit cards" in a bid to cut teenage pregnancies, reported the Daily Mirror tabloid.

To obtain the plastic cards, boys must attend a safe-sex counselling session. They can then get condoms using the cards at football grounds, barbers' shops and scout huts.

Britain has Europe's highest teen-pregnancy rate.

Some local councils have already started issuing the cards. They will be available nationwide for boys aged 13 and over by the end of this year, but may also be given to even younger but sexually active children.

The plan is being crafted by teen-sex advice service Brook for the Department for Children, Schools and Families.
