Two more deaths from swine flu in Thailand

BANGKOK - Thailand's health authorities Tuesday reported two more deaths from swine flu, raising the country's total to nine.

An eight-year-old girl in Phetchaburi province and a 58-year-old man in Bangkok were the latest people confirmed as succumbing to the A(H1N1) virus, deputy public health minister Manit Nopamornbodi told AFP.

"The girl, who also suffered from leukaemia, died on July 2 but the test results were only just released. The male victim, who also suffered from kidney failure, died on July 5," he said.

He also confirmed another 156 cases of swine flu across the kingdom, bringing the total to 2,428.

Worldwide there have been more than 94,500 confirmed cases of the virus, which has claimed more than 425 lives, according to the World Health Organization.
