A WOMAN has died after developing complications from Influenza A (H1N1) - the fifth death within 10 days.
The 34-year-old suffered from acute myeloid leukaemia and died yesterday morning from pneumonia, with H1N1 as a contributing factor.
She was admitted to Singapore General Hospital on July 17 after coughing for two days and tested positive for H1N1.
Yesterday, the Health Ministry also announced that four new patients were admitted into intensive care, bringing the total count to 11.
Three out of the four had prior medical conditions - a nine-year-old girl with a history of cerebral palsy, quadriplegia and hypothyroidism; a 23-year-old man with a history of epileptic fits; and a 34-year-old man with a history of Down's syndrome.
The last is a 29-year-old woman.
A total of 102 H1N1 patients are warded in public hospitals here.
