The New Paper
Doctor, runner, do-gooder, molester

HE WAS described as a doctor with a bright future.

Lo Chung Hong, 26, earned HK$55,000 ($10,000) a month, was about to receive a qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and even raised funds for Oxfam, an international group fighting poverty.

But his future is in doubt after he was convicted of indecent assault on a 15-year-old patient.

On Wednesday, a Hong Kong court convicted Lo of touching the girl's breasts during consultation.

The girl had an upset stomach and visited him on 10 Feb at the accident & emergency department of Tuen Mun Hospital.

The girl had lifted up her dress to her rib area for Lo to examine her abdomen. Lo then pushed the dress and her bra up to her collarbone and touched her breasts, reported South China Morning Post.

The girl was then diagnosed with gastroenteritis and discharged with medication.

Later that night, she decided to lodge a complaint with the hospital after talking to her friends about the incident. Ten days later, she made a police report.

Lo, who became a doctor two years ago, has since been suspended.

His lawyer, Mr Lawrence Lok Ying Kam, described him as a sunny, hardworking young man who gave his family HK$10,000 a month, raised money for Oxfam and took part in long-distance running events.
