Singapore has confirmed another 16 new cases of Influenza A (H1N1-2009), comprising seven local cases and nine cases with travel history.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Singapore to 142.
Among the seven new local cases include two additional cases from the Riverlife Church cluster, one new cluster linked to Butter Factory at One Fullerton, one case who had contact with an earlier confirmed case, and three unlinked cases who did not have any travel history or known contact with confirmed cases.
New cluster three: Butter Factory
The 140th case is a 19-year-old Singaporean female student.
Last Wednesday night (June 17), she went out to Butter Factory at One Fullerton, where the 96th, 117th and 118th cases were also at. On 19 June late evening, she developed symptoms while she was out shopping.
On 20 June morning, she proceeded to NUH for follow-up for an unrelated medical condition.
Swabs were taken from her for testing. On June 21 morning, she was admitted to NUH after her test indicated positive for influenza A (H1N1-2009).
MOH advises that patrons of Butter Factory at One Fullerton who visited the nightspot last Wednesday to monitor their health closely. They are advised to seek medical attention if they begin to feel unwell.
One local case who is a contact of a confirmed case
The 133rd case is a 22-year-old Malaysian man, who is a colleague of the 121st case (who was reported as an unlinked case on June 20). On June 19 morning, he developed symptoms while he was in office and took a taxi to CDC. He was admitted to CDC at night after testing positive for Influenza A (H1N1-2009).
