Singapore has confirmed 95 new cases of Influenza A today, bringing the total tally to 878 confirmed cases.
Investigations are on-going for these 95 new cases. To date, 329 patients have been discharged and the rest are recuperating.
With the increase in local cases, the Ministry of Health is taking a more targetted approach in the management of H1N1 - patients are to report to pandemic preparedness clinics (PPCs) instead of hospitals.
The move will free hospitals to focus on caring for those who are more ill, as majority of the H1N1 cases here have been mild, said MOH.
At the PPC, doctors will assess the patient's condition, and based on the severity of the illness and other risk factors, they may refer patients to hospitals for further management.
There are over 500 PPCs in Singapore.
